GOP-backed legislation that would have banned taxpayer-funded lobbying in Texas failed to make it out of the state House this week, and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is asking Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special legislative session in June to take up the bill and several others deemed as priorities.

The Texas Legislature this week passed a bill that would outlaw abortions in the state if the U.S. Supreme Court ever overturns Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 case that legalized abortion nationally.
