School Trustee Reggie Pegram, on behalf of the Association of Breezy Hill Park, presented TISD Supt. Georgeanne Warnock with $1,000 for five Terrell ISD classes on June 19. Former TISD Trustee Lisa Asher, center, is presented with a plaque Monday by board President Dena Risinger that recognizes Asher’s contributions to the school district during her time on the board. Looking on is schools Supt. Georgeanne Warnock. Many family members, friends and well-wishers attended the school board meeting and viewed a video tribute to Asher. She thanked her colleagues and praised the harmonious fashion in which the board operated, even when taking up contentious matters. Terrell officers to conduct Citizens Police Academy

The Terrell Police Department intends to conduct a Citizens Police Academy with the goal of educating the public and building relationships with the citizenry. It is hoped that those completing the academy will be able to serve as informal liaisons between the public and the Police Department.

TISD grapples with concerns over graduation venue

When the Terrell ISD shifted plans and held its June 4 graduation at the Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center instead of spacious Memorial Stadium, a lot of folks were disappointed at losing the opportunity to see their favorite graduate walk the stage.

July 4 festivities, fireworks moved to Municipal Airport

The Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB is excited to announce plans for Terrell’s annual Fourth of July celebration on Sunday, July 4. This year’s event will take place at a new location, Terrell Municipal Airport in cooperation with the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum.

Jim Weems

Jim Weems, of Terrell, passed away April 10, 2021 into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Jim was born July 21, 1944 in Lufkin to Jim and Gladys (Jones) Weems, both of whom greeted him in Heaven along with his brother Roy Weems and grandson Levi Hamby.

Jim was a man of many interests and talents. He was a talented millwright with his high precision craftsmanship being primarily in the industrial side where he would oversee the installation, dismantling, repair, reassembly and moving of machinery in factories, power plants and construction sites.
