Schleter named as W.H. Burnett principal

Terrell Independent School District is excited to announce Jodi Schleter as the new W.H. Burnett Early Childhood Center Principal. Schleter has been serving as the W.H. Burnett Assistant Principal since May 2021. She joined TISD from Ennis ISD where she served as an Early Childhood Education Instructional Coach. Schleter will take the reins from current WHB Principal, Melissa Nichols, who transitioned to the TISD Director of Recruitment and Retention this fall.

Terrell PD, DEA partnering to prevent pill abuse

On Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Terrell Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency will give the public its 21st opportunity in eight years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Council OKs TPD salary increase

Terrell City Council on Tuesday voted to approve an increase in pay for entry level through captain ranks of Terrell Police officers, effective Jan 1, 2022. “As Terrell continues to grow, the safety and protection of our citizens must remain our top priority,” said Mayor Rick Carmona.

City of Terrell offering Pfizer boosters

The City of Terrell is now offering Pfizer booster shots for adults 18 and older in certain groups who have received two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The booster shots are available from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Terrell Municipal Airport, 400 E. BFTS Blvd.

The THS Cross Country team had an outstanding weekend at the District 12-4A Meet, qualifying multiple runners for the Regional Cross Country Meet. The boys team made Terrell High School history by finishing second overall.

Dr. Jerome McAllister

Dr. Jerome McAllister passed away on Oct. 6, 2021.  He was born on April 21, 1932 and was a wonderful father and a loving husband to his wife Martha for over 63 years.

Jerry, as he was known to his friends and family, is survived by his wife Martha Samuels McAllister, his daughter Kathleen and her husband Matthew Adams, and second daughter Teresa Alden and her husband Curtis Alden.  He is also survived by his sister Mary Ellen Wallis and his brother James McAllister and his wife Dorothy McAllister.
