I began writing about retired Lake Lavon crappie guide Billy Kilpatrick a quarter century ago when he first began his almost quarter century guiding career on Lake Lavon. I first fished with guide Brandon Sargent this past fall at Lake Ray Hubbard.

The Phi Theta Kappa Chapter in Terrell made a generous donation to the Genesis Women’s Center in Kaufman County. The chapter donated 14 boxes of supplies during their spring drive.

The Trinity Valley Community College Phi Theta Kappa organization received some big honors last weekend. TVCC PTK students Kaylee Passons and Kaylin Melton were part of a team that won first place in the annual PTK Scholar Bowl at the PTK International Convention Catalyst 2022 in Denver, Colorado.

The diamond anniversary celebration has arrived for Trinity Valley Community College. On Saturday, April 23, there will be carnival-style games, music, balloons, giveaways and food. The entire event is free and open to the public.

The Terrell Lady Tigers made the short trek to Quinlan April 19, tangling with the Ford Lady Panthers. Terrell would play the role of spoiler on Ford’s senior night, roaring back from an early deficit to score an 11-5 win.

The Terrell Tigers hit the field twice last week, inching closer to the end of the regular season with District 13-4A games against Farmersville and Caddo Mills. Terrell would earn a split in the two matchups, dropping a game against Farmersville before bouncing back for an impressive win against the Foxes.

Terrell made it look easy in their first game against Ford, limiting the Panthers to just two hits in a 13-1 rout April 5. Beau Smith was dominant both at the plate and on the mound in the contest, going 3/4 with three triples, 4 RBI and three runs scored at the plate while also allowing just two hits and an unearned run in a complete game effort.

An online operation run by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office on multiple platforms for offenders soliciting minors for sexual acts resulted in the arrest of a 32-year old Terrell man identified as Eliphas Alinyo Osinde on March 24. Osinde operates a dental practice in Terrell.

Anglers from across the area will gather on Lake Fork next week, testing themselves and each other at the 5th annual Jake Wilson Memorial One-Day Open Bass Team Tournament. Organizers behind the effort explained the origin of the tournament stating, “The Jake Wilson Memorial Bass Tournament was organized to celebrate the life and legacy of Jake Charles Wilson.

District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced April 11 that a Kaufman County jury has found Julius Erving Chapman, 41, guilty for the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The jury verdict was handed down
