Kaufman County recognized by Keep Texas Beautiful

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement non-profit organization, recently named Kaufman County a Silver Star Affiliate, a designation granted to only 28 of KTB’s nearly 300 affiliates. Silver Star recognition is the second-highest status any community affiliate can achieve.

Run for the Wall to make local stop

Run for the Wall, an annual motorcycle ride promoting military veterans and honoring service, will make a pit stop for fuel and food at Brookshire’s in Terrell (located at 1400 W. Moore Ave.) at 8:30 a.m. May 22.

County partners with THS multimedia class

Kaufman County has launched a partnership with Terrell High School to promote county activities and programs while providing opportunities for students in the multimedia classes to put their videography skills to the test and help prepare them for the “real world” upon graduation.

Voters reject TISD bond proposals

Terrell ISD officials will head back to the drawing board this week, looking to regroup after voters turned down a $95 million bond proposal highlighted by the construction of a new elementary school campus.

Annual Taco Festival draws large crowd

The City of Terrell and the Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB sponsored the 2nd Annual Terrell Taco Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 7, 2022. The event was held on Nash and Adelaide Streets near Terrell City Hall and was a huge success.

Runners compete at Fountain 5K Race

A windy Saturday morning didn’t stop racers from coming out to Ben Gill Park for the Fountain 5K Run/Walk. The event, which was part of the 41st annual Terrell Jubilee, benefits the Volunteer Services Council (VSC) of Terrell State Hospital and it celebrates the charm and heritage of Terrell, as participants pass historic homes built at the turn of the century on the scenic neighborhood route.

Patterson named Administrator of the Year

The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance has successfully partnered with Dallas ISD for 15 years; much of that success can be attributed to Terrell ISD graduate Leonidas Patterson, currently the Director of Student Activities for the district.
