CLASS REUNION

The Terrell High School Class of 1967 held their 55th class reunion June 25 in the home of LeeAnn Hutchinson. This was the last class at THS to have maroon and white as their school colors. The colors were subsequently changed to the current red and white. Any member of the class that would like to be involved may contact Vinnie Perry, who heads up the committee, or other members Mindy Lovell, Gary Lovell, or Susan Buford. A 75th birthday party is being planned for the class members next. The group enjoyed a BBQ dinner and a cake with their fight song inscribed on it. Blood drive scheduled for July 24

Donating blood is an easy, healthy way to help fellow Texans and support the well-being of the local community. People need blood at all hours of every day. They include older adults with age-related health issues, mothers experiencing difficulties during childbirth, auto accident and trauma patients, children with anemia, and many others who depend on an available community blood supply.

SPCA of Texas offers tips for protecting pets

Texas summers bring brutally hot conditions, but more than just the heat can be harmful to your pet. Memorial Day, Labor Day and the Fourth of July are the top three holidays for pet emergencies because of outdoor activities where pets run loose. Firecrackers, with their loud, startling and scary noises, can also be harmful to your pets’ well-being. The SPCA of Texas recommends these tips to make your pets’ Fourth of July a safe one:

The Association of Breezy Hill Park and the City of Terrell rolled out the red carpet June 20, welcoming people from across the area for their 6th annual Juneteenth Celebration event at Breezy Hill Park.

Robbery attempt thwarted by off-duty officer

A would-be bank robber was arrested and taken into custody without incident June 16 thanks in large part to the efforts of an off-duty Terrell Police Department officer. According to a narrative of the incident released by the police department the following day, “An off-duty Police Lieutenant thwarted a robbery attempt at a local bank in the 2400 block of West Moore Avenue (USHWY80).
