Poetry announces Teachers of the Week

Body
Mrs. Ching is the PCCS upper school history and writing teacher, including 1301/1302 dual credit history. She holds a Master’s degree and a B.A. in History with numerous certifications in both education and business. She began teaching in Christian education in 2002 and, after gaining her graduate degree, started teaching college courses in 2015. She particularly enjoys offering project-based instruction, such as the Annual History Fair, and interdisciplinary studies, combining skills involving history, primary historical sources, research and writing. When asked about why she enjoys teaching, she replied: “I enjoy teaching at PCCS. My experience here has been the best teaching experience I’ve ever had. The kids are engaged and curious about history in a way that is very rewarding. History is a field of conversation. It takes areas of our past, dissects them, and then examines them. The examination process has so many teachable moments that make it worth it. Seeing these kids think critically, weight, and evaluate history and do so with a Christian worldview is powerful. We are here to make adults, to make leaders, and to make responsible, Christ-centered citizens. I hope my time here at PCCS makes an impact on the next generation.”
