Band students playing with purpose

Body
Let’s face it. Middle school can be hard. It’s that time in your life when you are growing, changing and finding your own identity. For Furlough Middle School eighth grade band students Gerardo Juarez, Annette Armendariz, Brighton Craig and Angel Santos, being a member of the middle school band has not only helped them to find community, but the four students also happen to be pretty talented.

World War II women pilots featured at BFTS Museum

Body
The role women pilots played during World War II is not known by the average American, but the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum is presenting a program Thursday, March 21 at 7 pm that will tell their story. Texas Woman’s University Professor of History, Katherine Sharp Landdeck, Ph.D, has spent two decades researching and explaining their contributions to the war effort.

The studio audience experience

Body
I must confess I have always wanted to be part of a studio audience and see first-hand what goes into the making of a television episode. So, when I saw a chance to be part of an audience for the new Dr. Phil Primetime show filming in Fort Worth, I responded. I took along my daughter-in-law, Catie to be part of the adventure.

Not all white bass ‘up the creek’

Body
One of my favorite ways to spend an early spring morning is tossing small Roadrunners or Beetle Spins into the slow-moving current of a stream feeding a lake with a healthy population of white bass. When conditions are just right, catching can be nonstop.
