County hears Child Advocacy presentation

Body
ashlee@themonitor.net Commissioners of Kaufman County met in a regular meeting May 21 and heard a presentation from the Childrens Advocacy Center for Kaufman County (CACKC) board chairs. President Randy Squibb and Treasurer Crystal Humphreys spoke to commissioners about a budgeting shortfall within the CACKC and while they did not request any funds during the commissioners’ court meeting, asked commissioners to “consider CACKC in their budget going forward.” Humphreys informed commissioners that at any given time there are more than 35 children on the CACKC waitlist and to provide care for those children, it would cost $650,000. CACKC relies on state grants and fundraising within Kaufman County to satisfy their budget needs, and stated they will continue to be good stewards of the money they receive for children advocacy services.
