State outpaces the nation, adding the most jobs in 2022

Texas ranks first in the nation in over-the-year jobs added, with 650,100 positions gained in 2022. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, the state not only had the largest absolute increase in jobs added, but also attained the highest percent of seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs added over the year at 5.0 percent. In comparison, United States’ job growth expanded by 3.0 percent.

Tyler Junior College has recognized 1,612 students named to the president’s and dean’s lists for their academic excellence during the Fall 2022 semester. The president’s list consists of 581 students who completed a minimum of 12 hours of college-level courses with a 4.0 grade-point average.

The Terrell Tigers reached the homestretch of the regular season last week, tangling with Lancaster in both school’s final game of the first round of the district calendar. Lancaster would ride a dominant first quarter to a lopsided victory, downing Terrell 76-36.
