Kaufman County officials also passed a resolution last week supporting the promotion of vaccinations and have gathered information about where residents can get, not only the Pfizer vaccine, but also the Moderna and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Just last week, I spent a few days in Hawaii with my bride of 50 years and youngest son and his finance. Visiting Nutridge Estate high atop a mountain above Honolulu and dancing to Elvis’ famous version of ‘Blue Hawaii’ with my wife of fifty years while looking down on the lights of Honolulu, Pearl Harbor and the distant Pacific Ocean was a moving moment.

AUSTIN–Governor Greg Abbott announced Aug. 13 that the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) are launching nine COVID-19 antibody infusion centers throughout the state. The first infusion center, located in San Antonio, has served over 100 Texans since opening Aug. 10. Additionally, an infusion center in Corpus Christi began operations Aug. 13 at the RMB Fairgrounds. An infusion center in Austin will launch Aug. 16 at the Travis County Expo Center and DSHS is currently working with local officials to launch similar operations in Conroe, Dallas-Fort Worth and Laredo in the coming days.

A growing number of school districts, counties and cities have defied Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order banning mask mandates, as COVID-19 cases continue to spike due to the delta variant and a low rate of vaccination among Texans.

Despite much lower traffic levels around Texas schools due to the pandemic, there were still hundreds of crashes in school zones last year. So as millions of Texas students return to class, the Texas Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to watch out for kids walking and biking to school to keep everyone safe.
