awalker@cityofterrell.org Terrell City Manager Mike Sims has announced his retirement from the city’s top post. Terrell City Council appointed Assistant City Manager Mark Mills as Interim City Manager during their May 6 council meeting.

The Terrell Fire Department held its annual awards banquet on Saturday, May 3. The department had a large turnout, including Chaplin Gary Weems, Assistant City Manager Mark Mills, Mayor Rick Carmona, Councilmember Donna Renee Anderson, Retired Fire Chief Jim Harper and Retired member Don Hamilton.

Kaufman County Grand Jury returned 35 indictments May 9. Indictment information obtained from the District Clerk’s office does not include ages or addresses of defendants.

editor@terrelltribune.com The Terrell Police Department 911 Dispatch is holding a drive for school supplies for the upcoming school year. The drive began on May 1 and runs through July 19 at the department.

Members of the City of Terrell, Terrell EDC, Terrell FD, Terrell PD, Terrell Chamber of Commerce and more took part in the Terrell Fire Department push-in ceremonies for Engine 611 (Station 1) and Engine 621 (Station 2) May 7. This is a long-standing tradition and makes the engines official introduction to the Terrell Fire Department.

An enthusiastic crowd turned out for Victory in Europe Day during World War II (V-E Day) on May 10 at the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum. BFTS members sent thanks to The Terrell Car Club, Aircraft owners, Jeep owner Fox & Co. Military Museum and the firearms on display.
