Pet adoption center offers deal on large dogs

Now is the best time to add that new furry friend to your family. Currently, all dogs six months or older and over 30 pounds are free to adopt. There is also an up to $250 incentive for fosters for keeping a dog over 30 pounds for three weeks. We are also offering free spay and neuter vouchers to help with pet population control. July 4 celebration on deck at airport

Grab your lawn chairs and plenty of water and head to Terrell Municipal Airport on July 4 for the Terrell Chamber of Commerce’s annual fireworks show. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and the fireworks go off about 9:30 p.m.

TFD unveils new brush truck

This week, Terrell Fire Department personnel welcomed the arrival of “Brush 621” - the first such apparatus that has been added to the department’s fleet since 2003. Crews have begun in-service training and expect a “push-in” ceremony before a projected operational date of July 3, just in time for the triple digit temperatures and The truck was funded through a $464,425 grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Fire, Ambulance and Service Truck (FAST) Fund.

Blood donors are lifesavers for local patients who need transfusions. This includes children fighting cancer, mothers going through difficult childbirths, family members who require surgery, and grandparents with health issues, among many others in need.

Adopt A Classroom campaign underway at Terrell ISD

To ensure that students have the tools needed to be successful, Terrell ISD annually raises funds for the “Adopt a Classroom” campaign. As the student population continues to grow so does the number of classrooms. This year, TISD has set the goal of raising $60,000 – the largest goal to date for this program.

Eight-time World Champion, Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductee, and Terrell resident, Donnie Gay, is hosting a new television series on WILD RIDES TV titled RODEO’s SON. Of course, Gay is no stranger to television, having color commentated on countless National Finals Rodeo broadcasts on the Cowboy Channel and RFD-TV, as well as other broadcasts.

Sales tax collections dip for second consecutive month

The City of Terrell has found itself in a mid-year funk according to the Texas State Comptroller’s Office, seeing sales tax revenues dip when comparing against totals from the same calendar month from the previous year for the second consecutive reporting period.
