DAVID KAPITAN editor@terrelltribune.com Brookshire’s in Terrell will be hosting the annual motorcycle ride promoting veterans and honoring service known as ‘Run for the Wall’ at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, May 21.

According to Alison Walker at the City of Terrell, there will be a runoff election for a seat on the city council scheduled for Saturday, June 10, featuring incumbent Andreia Reese and challenger Phil Robison.

The Terrell High School Class of 2023, led by Valedictorian Dalia Alonso and Salutatorian Vanessa Rodriguez, will make the transition from high school seniors to high school graduates during commencement exercises to be held at Memorial Stadium beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 26.

Poetry Community Christian School’s Class of 2023 will make the transition from high school students to high school graduates May 26. Leading the way for the Class of 2023 will be valedictorian Sofi Ford and salutatorian Addy Jobe.

Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced that $141 million will be distributed to Intuit TurboTax customers who were misled into paying Intuit to file their federal tax returns. Approximately 4.4 million consumers nationwide will receive a payment, including more than 465,000 Texas residents. The payments are the result of a multistate settlement reached with Intuit in 2022.

District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced April 24 that a Kaufman County jury has sentenced Jason Clay Humphries, 47, to 25 years in the Texas penitentiary. After a week-long trial before Honorable Judge Casey Blair in the 86th District Court of Kaufman County, a jury found Humphries guilty of Sexual Assault of Child Enhanced.
