Sales Tax Holiday for emergency supplies, April 22-24

With the severe weather season upon us, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax-free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 24.

Forney man arrested following March incident

A Forney area man was taken into custody last week following an investigation related to a March incident at a local retailer. According to information released by the Terrell Police Department April 17, officers were called to the Ross Dress for Less March 23 in reference to “an Invasive Visual Recording of a customer.” The department’s narrative of the incident and subsequent arrest stated, “The customer reported that while at Ross cashing out at the register, a male individual slid his phone under her dress.

Cattleman’s Clinic marks 30th anniversary

The 30th Upper Sabine Cattleman’s Cow Calf Clinic was held April 14 at the Gabriel Ranch owned by Ron and Lana Gabriel. This long-standing beef cattle educational program was planned and carried out by the Extension Livestock and Forage Committees from Van Zandt, Rains and Kaufman Counties.

Early voting set to begin Monday

DAVID KAPITAN editor@terrelltribune.com The two month-long window between the close of candidate filing and the start of early voting will officially come to an end April 24 with one contested city council race on the ballot for local voters to consider. The filing period, which ran from mid-January to mid-February, proved to be relatively uneventful locally with only incumbents Ashley Carmona Fivecoat, Ann Kines McDonald and Dena Risinger returning candidate packets for a position on the Terrell ISD Board of Trustees.
