Information courtesy of Forney Police Department On Sunday, March 12, at approximately 7:04 p.m., the Forney Police Department Communications Center received calls of an accident in the 700 block of East US Highway 80 involving a vehicle and a building. Forney Police and emergency medical services responded to Tokyo Harbor restaurant where a vehicle had crashed into the building causing multiple injuries.

Lone Star CASA honors National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Lone Star CASA is raising awareness for the need to end child abuse and neglect in the Kaufman area. CASA volunteer advocates are everyday citizens who are recruited and specially trained to advocate for children in the child welfare system.

Kaufman County Precinct 3 Constable officially became the newest member of the Terrell Kiwanis Club during the group’s weekly meeting March 14. Local members stated, “Matt was inducted today as our newest Kiwanian. He jumped right in and is already a valuable part of our club. Want to learn more about what Kiwanis does? Join us for one of our meetings at noon on Tuesdays at 200 Elm Drive.”

Senior Planet coming to Hulsey Public Library

Hulsey Public Library is launching a new program to help older adults in the Kaufman County area learn new skills, save money, get in shape, and make new friends. In partnership with Senior Planet (a flagship national nonprofit of AARP which harnesses technology to change the way older Americans age) the WINGS: Adult Education Program will be offering classes and workshops about technology, health and wellness, and socialization.

Resolution passed to pursue new district court

The continued influx of new residents to the area was front and center for the Kaufman County Commissioners Court last week, resulting in the passage of a resolution that serves as a stepping-stone for the creation of an additional district court.
