Students designated as National College Board Scholars

The College Board announced that two Terrell High School students, Karla Landa and Vanessa Rodriguez, have been designated as College Board National Hispanic Recognition Scholars and National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program Scholars, based on academic achievements and outstanding performance on the PSAT and/or AP exams.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, Mayor Rick Carmona signed and presented a Proclamation declaring September 17-23 as "Constitution Week" to the King's Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. TISD Athletic Hall of Fame class announced

Terrell ISD is proud to announce the 2021 Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, Darryl Keith “Skeeter” Derrick, Dwight Gentry II, Clayton Hass, Diane Hooker, Burnest Rhodes, and Jherrod Stiggers. These six individuals join a group of more than 100 distinguished student athletes who graduated from or coached at either Terrell High School or Burnett High School. These exceptional individuals were nominated for this honor based on their athletic achievements, character, and overall contribution to the Terrell Independent School District.

Grass fire risk remains high locally

Area fire departments have been kept busy in recent weeks, responding to multiple grass fires in and around the Terrell community. The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department provided updates on two recent fires via social media, noting in a Sept.
A recent rise in calls related to grass fires has resulted in departments across East Texas issuing reminders about safe burning practices. TVC awards grant to local organization

On Sept. 7, the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) presented over $7.6 million in grants to 27 organizations in North Texas for providing services to over 4,000 veterans. The presentation was held virtually and hosted on TVC’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/texasveteranscommission.

Petty to perform “Hank & My Honky Tonk Heroes”

After a highly successful restart in September for live and in-person performances, the E! Terrell Entertainment Series is bringing Jason Petty to the Jamie Foxx Performing Art Center at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Hailed by critics as one of the best Hank Williams impersonators on the scene today, Petty will showcase his hit show, Hank & My Honky Tonk Heroes at E! Terrell’s second performance for its 2021-2022 season of community concerts.
