City eyes rebuild of Temple Street

Residents of Terrell’s Stallings Addition are expected to see a vast improvement to Temple Street and hopefully relief from 18-wheeler traffic under a plan discussed at a Tuesday afternoon City Council work session.

Success of Terrell vaccine hub celebrated

Dozens ventured out into the heat on Tuesday, June 15 to celebrate the success of the Kaufman County vaccination program that resulted in giving more than 30,000 vaccinations to Kaufman County residents.

County eyes HSNT for pet adoption center

Kaufman County commissioners on Tuesday approved negotiating a contract with the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) for operation of the county’s animal adoption center. At more than 12,000 square feet, the Kaufman County Pet Adoption Center will have the capacity to shelter as many as 58 cats and 66 dogs.

Sweet elected to lead council of governments

Rockwall County Judge David Sweet was elected president of the North Central Texas Council of Governments’ (NCTCOG) Executive Board at NCTCOG’s 55th annual General Assembly on June 4. The executive board is the policy-making body of the Council of Governments, which serves the 16 North Central Texas counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise.

USDA orders cease and desist to tiger exhibit

A Kaufman-based white tiger exhibitor was ordered by the USDA to cease and desist exhibiting the animals after it was determined that she had no license to show the animals, a USDA inspection report shows.
