Forney ISD releases statement regarding allegations against teacher

Forney ISD Chief of Communications Kristin Zastoupil issued a press release May 4 regarding allegations of misconduct involving a Forney ISD teacher which read as follows: “While there is currently a multi-agency investigation underway, we have now been cleared to share the following information,” said Zastoupil.

The modern-day eastern turkey restocking program that began back in 1979 has been successful in some areas and somewhat of a bust in others. In earlier days, pen raised domestic birds were introduced in the wild without success. Biologists learned that live trapped wild birds were the key to success and by 2003 about 7,000 birds were released in east Texas, since the initial stockings, super stockings in areas with prime habitat seems to be succeeding.

Kaufman County to seek state aid to fix City Lake dam

KAUFMAN-Kaufman County Commissioners' Court voted April 28 to approve an application for state aid to repair the dam at Cedar Creek Site 60, better known as Kaufman City Lake. Owen Cantrell, a district technician with the Kaufman-Van Zandt-Rockwall Soil and Water Conservation District, said the conservation district applied for a federally funded rehabilitation project in June 2024, which the commissioners' court signed off on, he added.

Day Hab gets surprise from Platinum Chevrolet

Members of Envision Day Hab, an adult day care center in Terrell, got a huge surprise from Platinum Chevrolet recently as they got to view a bright green Chevrolet Corvette, making their day after they finished up their spring fling dance that served as their prom. The group enjoyed dancing, dinner and karaoke along with pictures. After reaching out to Platinum Chevrolet, the company fulfilled the wishes of many of the adults as their love for cars was granted as they took pictures with the vehicle. See more photos on page 7A.
