Jazz trio set to play at BFTS Museum Nov. 23

The No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum in Terrell is hosting a jazz concert featuring the Peter Rioux Trio from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 as a fundraiser for the museum. Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased at the door. The museum will close to the public at noon to set up the concert.

Remembrance Day Ceremony honors RAF Cadets killed during WWII

The No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony is set for 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10 at Oakland Memorial Park, 1000 W. Moore Avenue, Terrell. Two special guests will take part in the ceremony: Jessie Dodwell, Deputy Consul General, United Kingdom from Houston and Susan Harper, Consul General for Canada in Dallas.

BFTS presented with joint resolution

Texas State Senator Bob Hall, right, and Assistant District Director for State Representative Keith Bell, stopped by the museum this week to present BFTS Board of Directors Chairman Bill Hutmacher with a Joint Resolution of the State Legislature that recognizes his recent honor. King Charles III recently awarded Bill the British Empire Medal for “his positive impact in local communities through charitable efforts” for his service to the No.1 British Flying Training School Museum in Terrell. The Joint Resolution describes his “instrumental role in preserving an important part of the shared history of the United States and the United Kingdom.” Senator Hall’s district director, Chris Morris, accompanied the group.

Striper Express guide David Escamilla, who I first fished with almost 30 years ago, who in fishing circles is known as ‘Lil’ Dave, eased the throttle back on the big Falcon guide boat and pointed to a gently sloping shoreline about 50 yards away.

Terrell ISD inducts 2024 Class for Hall of Fame and Honor

Terrell ISD inducted their newest members of the 2024 Class for their Hall of Fame and Honor. The Terrell ISD Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor recognize individuals for their contributions to the Terrell community. The Hall of Fame recognizes people for their athletic achievements, character and overall contribution to the district. The Hall of Honor recognizes alumni for their achievements in the arts, athletics or academics. The 2024 Hall of Fame Class includes: Judy Jones, Roderick Kennedy and Darryl Malone. The 2024 Hall of Honor Class includes: Dr. Jay L. McCullar, Charles Neroes, Tim Lawson, Tommy Spencer and Ted Lyon.
