United Way of Kaufman County to host blood drive

More than 15 million pints of blood are transfused in this country each year. That exceeds 40 thousand pints daily. Hospitals in north, central and east Texas are using only a fraction of that amount, but Carter BloodCare still requests 1,000 volunteer blood donors each day to keep pace with local hospital demands.

Museum presents free program on preserving family heirlooms

Forfeiture funds donated to Advocacy Center

The Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office donated forfeiture funds in the amount of $3,144 to the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) during the January 11 Commissioners’ Court meeting. “As a leader, we must be diligent to provide the best for our county,” said Pct.

The City of Post Oak Bend held its 2nd annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest. The event grew this year with 10 contestant entries and the city is already planning the event to be larger next year. The winners were awarded a metal Holiday Home yard sign purchased from Superior Custom Signs in Terrell and a $100 electricity credit from TVEC. Mother Nature delivered a devastating one-two punch at the start of 2021, following up a round of relatively light snow during the opening weeks of January with record-breaking totals in February. January’s round proved to be idyllic for most county residents, blanketing the area with powdery snow that led briefly to the closure of schools and many area businesses.

Members of the Class of 2021 on June 4 walked from the stage into a new life – a life no longer bound by the confines of Terrell High School or the expectations of its educators. Students from the Class of 2021 will no longer walk the school’s hallways filled with friends and classmates or sit in its classrooms offering enrichment and learning.
