Hulsey’s Summer Reading Program off to great start

Volunteer firefighters receive donation of trailer

Members of the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department stand on a 16-inch heavyduty utility trailer built by Hawn Freeway Trailer Sales and Service. The trailer will be used to transport the department’s Gator UTV. The UTV will be used for firefighting as well as search-and-rescue operations. Lt. Chris Sykora and other TVFD members donated their time to equip the UTV with lights, siren, and other equipment. Kaufman County Library re-opens June 22

After 40 days of renovation, the Kaufman County Library is scheduled to re-open on Tuesday, June 22. The library closed on May 12 to have some notable renovations made, including new paint, flooring, and an upgraded technology system in the community room.

Man found guilty of assault

Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced this week the conviction of Mark Wayne Jolley, 61, for assault causes bodily injury with a finding of family violence, which is a class A misdemeanor offense.

This brother and sister, both products of Terrell High School, recently graduated weeks apart as medical doctors. Dr. Ste’Von Voice is a 2021 graduate of the University of the Incarnate World School of Medicine in San Antonio and a 2007 graduate of Terrell High. Congratulations also go out to his sister, Dr. Alesia Voice, a 2021 graduate of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock. Terrell to celebrate Juneteenth

Saturday’s Juneteenth celebration at Breezy Hill Park in Terrell comes just days after Congress passed legislation that would make the day that commemorates the emancipation of slaves in Texas a federal holiday.
