Congrats to high school Winterguard team

During the North Texas Colorguard Circuit, a virtual contest held in March, the Terrell High School Winterguard team placed fourth overall for the Round 2 Scholastic A. Terrell ISD was the only 4A district to place in the top eight teams, ranking among 6A districts. At the NTCA Solo and Ensemble contest in April the following students earned awards for their performances: Juliana Sandoval, Savannah Kendrick, Kaylee Roseberry, Nancy Olvera, Aniyah Butler, Amaya Richmond, and Hannah Torres. Making history this year, the Terrell High School One Act Play advanced to the Bi-District competition for the first time with their play “The Marriage of Bette and Boo,” directed by Amanda Guthrie and Brant Davis. Darrell Hobbs of Kaufman is a new member of the American Angus Association, Mark McCully, CEO of the national breed organization, announced last week. The American Angus Association, headquartered in Saint Joseph, Mo., has more than 25,000 active adult and junior members.

The aroma of flapjacks cooking on the grill is expected to fill the community room at Rockwall & Brin Church of Christ on Tuesday as the Kiwanis Club invites folks young, old and in between to support the club and sample its tasty fare at Pancake Day.

Mojica, Avenetti honored by Lone Star CASA

Abel Mojica was named Volunteer of the Year for 2020 with Lone Star CASA, which serves Rockwall and Kaufman counties. He became a CASA volunteer in 2012 and advocated for 13 children throughout his nine years of service, helping them achieve permanency and improving their lives.
