April 3-6: Preschool screenings will be held for children from birth to 5-years-old that reside within the boundaries of Terrell ISD who may be slow in developing or having difficulty speaking, hearing, seeing or that have a physical impairment. There is no cost.

A few months ago, I introduced readers to a new addition in our household – a “pretend” breed called a “Teddy Bear”, a Shih Tzu/ Bijon mix. I called her “Fluffbucket” – my wife called her “Milly”. She was really just a tiny puppy body swaddled in lots of soft, white fur. She quickly took over my wife’s lap, and began chewing everything she could get her mouth around – socks, flip-flops, shoes, chair legs…and my plastic containers.

As I write this column, all four of the number-1 seeds in the March Madness Tournament have been defeated. Wow! Who saw that coming! With Easter just around the corner, perhaps it’s a good time to ask who or what is number-1 in your life? Life is so short.

1933-2023 Services for Deborah Lynn Coble, 73, of Terrell, were held 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, at Community Life Church in Forney with David Griffin officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

The City of Terrell is expected to be a hive of activity this weekend with two major happenings, National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day and the Community Church Open House event, scheduled to take place March 25 and March 26.

Hulsey Public Library Director Rebecca ‘Becca’ Anderson was recently named Chair-Elect for the Public Library Division of the Texas Library Association (TLA). TLA is composed of four divisions representing the four types of libraries: academic, public school, public and special.

The City of Terrell has announced that it will be hosting a public open house regarding the Airport Master Plan from 5-7 p.m. April 5 at the Terrell Municipal Airport located at 400 British Flying School Boulevard.

The Terrell City Council continued to lay the groundwork for the city’s ongoing population its three-year plan to keep pace with the needs of the local citizenry. TFD Chief Shane LeCroy served as the primary presenter on the topic, taking city officials through a quick review of recent trends before turning his attention to the next three years.
