PCCS Speech Tournament Winners

The Poetry Community Christian School Speech Tournament concluded last week. Top honors went to the following winners: Duet Acting (Bethany Adams, Grady Garvin, Haley Lozano, Chloe Reid, Gracie Johnson, Sofia McKee), Prose Interpretation (Chloe Green, Enrik Martinez, Dominick Peralta, Declamation (Lily Spakes, Katalina Conejo), Original Oratory (Layla Bunch, Alice Yoo, Style Mack). Elementary students competed in Bible Memory and Prose Interpretation with top awards going to Kendra Palestina, Rosalynn Dominguez, and Abby Jorzig.

Kaufman County gets seat on transportation board

The commissioners' court of Kaufman County voted April 21 to approve appointing County Judge Jakie Allen to the Regional Transportation Council board, a transportation policy committee which oversees the DFW area's transportation planning process.

Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, along with multiple other agencies, battled a house fire in the late hours of Tuesday, April 14. Terrell VFD was dispatched to the area of County Road 237A for a structure fire around 9:27 p.m.

Terrell ISD dedicates Jacob Stokes Memorial Hallway

Terrell ISD came together on Friday, April 10 to honor and remember Jacob Stokes with the dedication of a memorial hallway in his name at Gilbert Willie, Sr. Elementary. This space will serve as a lasting tribute to Jacob’s life, spirit and the Impact he made on those around him, Terrell ISD said on social media. See more photos on page 7A.

Terrell ISD names Dr. Durell Thompson HS Principal

Terrell ISD Communications A familiar face will step into the role of Terrell High School Principal at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Terrell ISD announced the appointment of Dr. Durell Thompson as the principal of Terrell High School. Dr. Thompson previously served as the Associate Principal for the past three years.
