Breezy Hill splash pad construction begins

The City of Terrell announced that construction on the new Breezy Hill splash pad began Tuesday, May 11. The new community amenity is slated to open later this summer according to the City of Terrell.

Terrell PD introduces four new officers

Terrell Police Chief Arley Sansom introduced the four newest officers to the department at the May 5 Terrell City Council meeting. Chief Sansom introduced Officers Ethan Wagner and Kimberly Avalos, who both graduated from the police academy on May 4 and two lateral transfers, Juan Santoyo from Dallas College PD and Taylor Huddle from Kaufman PD.

Council recognizes Terrell Kiwanis Club K-Kids

Members of the Terrell City Council and the Terrell Kiwanis Club recognized K-Kids and their sponsors during the May 5 city council meeting. The club members were honored with a City of Terrell logo cookie, a challenge coin and a personal note from Mayor Rick Carmona thanking them for their ongoing support of the council.

Kaufman County seeks indigent defense assistant funds

Kaufman County Commissioners' Court voted May 5 to apply to the Texas Indigent Defense Commission in Austin to fund an assistant indigent defense coordinator position, which Project Manager Pam Corder said is needed because 'as our county grew,' that department 'was falling behind' because only one person was managing it.

Joint, primary elections conclude

In the City of Forney general election, Sarah Salgado and Joseph “Yaz” Yazdanpanahi are headed to a runoff next month for Place 4 on the council while Greg Helm took Place 6 on the council.

Terrell Police Department welcome their two newest officers to the department on Monday, May 4. Officer Kimberly Avalos and Officer Ethan Wagner recently graduated from the NCTCOG Basic Peace Officer Course (BCAPS) Class 313. Both have successfully completed their academy training and are beginning the next phase of their careers in law enforcement.
