I need to get something off of my chest. I joke around a lot, I admit it, but now I’m being deadly serious. This apathy that I see right now from people and organizations that should care, and whom are actually obligated to at least pretend to care, really sickens me.

TEXAS PRESS ASSOCIATION More than four-fifths of Texas public schools received an ‘A’ rating for their financial practices, according to the Texas Education Agency, which released the final financial accountability ratings for the latest school year last week. A total of 969 school districts and charter schools, or 81%, received the top rating for their financial management practices.

When people talk about success in sports, or in life, it’s easy to point to talent as the deciding factor. We admire the athlete with natural speed, the student with quick understanding, or the worker who seems born for the job.

Imagine the final arrangements for a trip are complete when an unexpected situation comes up or you are at the airport getting ready to board the plane, and your flight is canceled or delayed. A quick search on the internet for the airline customer service locates a phone number, and you click to call.

Whether in sports, business, or education, teamwork is the heartbeat of success. Too often, when we talk about building teams, the focus is on strategies, talent, or performance metrics.

The end of the First Called Special Session of 2025 is in sight, but the Texas Senate did its job by passing all 16 items on the Governor’s list. Unfortunately, House Democrats fled the state, leaving their duties, families, and constituents in the lurch.

Change is rarely comfortable. For some employees and athletes alike, it feels like an unwelcome disruption, no matter how well it’s explained or supported.

This morning, I pulled into the office while it was still dark, about 4:30 a.m. The campus was quiet, as it usually is at that hour.
