Ory wins gold at State UIL Speech, Debate Competition

For the third time in three months, Terrell High School Senior, John Ory, packed his bags and traveled to the Texas State Capitol to compete in a UIL Speech and Debate Competition. For the first time, he has returned home with a gold medal around his neck as a Texas State Champion.

Local teacher among grant recipients

This month, SONIC® Drive-In donated $1.5 million to help fund local education needs through DonorsChoose, a national nonprofit that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom requests submitted by teachers.

Midwestern State University announces spring honor rolls Midwestern State University recognized 1,040 honor students for the Spring 2022 semester. The President’s Honor Roll included 426 students, the Provost’s Honor Roll included 284 students and the Dean’s Honor Roll included 330 students.

More than 60 dresses donated

The King’s Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution just wrapped up their third Prom Dress Drive, collecting dresses that will benefit the students of Crandall High School. Spearheaded by Crystal Persall, this year’s efforts collected 64 dresses.

Two inducted into honor society

Joshua Denney and Sarah Denney, both of Terrell, were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Hayes tabbed to fill Executive Director of Special Services role

Terrell Independent School District is excited to announce Jammie Hayes as TISD’s Executive Director of Special Services. Hayes, who is finishing her 27th year in education and currently serves as TISD’s Director of Special Services, holds a Master of Science in Special Education with a Diagnostician Certification from Texas A&M University.

LeTourneau University announces Fall 2021 President’s List

Sarah Horan (BS Mission Aviation) was named to the Fall 2021 President’s List at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. The President’s List recognizes students who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester to receive this honor. LeTourneau University President Dr. Steven D. Mason said being named to the President’s List is, indeed, a significant achievement and honor.

Sam Houston State University Announces Fall 2021 Dean’s List

Jasmine Baldwin and Maikayla Garner earned a spot on the Dean’s List of Academic Honors at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville for the fall semester. Both are undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.
