UT Tyler recognizes students on Spring 2023 President's Honor Roll

The University of Texas at Tyler announced students who were named to the spring 2023 President's Honor Roll. To qualify for the President's Honor Roll, a student must have completed, in one semester, 12 or more semester hours of undergraduate college-level credit with an 'A' in all courses.

Sophia Pikett, a Sophomore Kinesiology major from Terrell, was among approximately 800 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2023 Dean’s List. The Dean’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

The University of Texas at Tyler announced the students who were named to the fall 2022 Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must have completed 12 or more semester hours of undergraduate college-level credit in the awarding semester with a grade point average of at least 3.75.

Students and school officials from across the state showed their support for the Uvalde community this week by donning items of maroon clothing Sept. 6. Uvalde students had not been in the classroom since May 24 when 19 students and two teachers were killed in a shooting incident. Terrell ISD administrators stated, “Our thoughts are with our sister district, Uvalde CISD, as they return to school today. As fellow educators we stand with you, we believe in you, and we send our love. #uvaldestrong”

Ory wins gold at State UIL Speech, Debate Competition

For the third time in three months, Terrell High School Senior, John Ory, packed his bags and traveled to the Texas State Capitol to compete in a UIL Speech and Debate Competition. For the first time, he has returned home with a gold medal around his neck as a Texas State Champion.

Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration April 30 for 29 Texas counties impacted by severe storms and flooding that began last week and continues to affect homes, businesses and the agricultural industry throughout the state. The counties in the Governor’s declaration include: Baylor, Chambers, Dickens, Ellis, Freestone, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Haskell, Hill, Hood, Hunt, Kaufman, Knox, Leon, Liberty, Limestone, Madison, McLennan, Montgomery, Navarro, Polk, San Jacinto, Somervell, Tarrant, Trinity, Tyler, Walker and Wichita counties.
