Holly fern named newest Texas Superstar plant

Holly fern, also known as Japanese holly fern and fish tail fern, an evergreen herbaceous shrubby perennial succulent, has been named the newest Texas Superstar plant. David Rodriguez, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulturist, San Antonio, said established holly fern plants are reliable performers that provide a number of uses.

WHAT? Crappie for Christmas presents? Well, maybe but if you are a crappie angler, you can find them ‘lighting up’ your sonar around isolated submerged trees. This past week, while doing the ‘legwork’ for this article with guide Brandon Sargent, Lead Slingers Guide Service at Lake Ray Hubbard, we fished around some large trees that have been underwater since the mid 60s when the lake filled.

Marching season begins for Tiger Band

The Terrell Tiger Band program will see its fall season shift into overdrive during the upcoming weeks, following up a recent appearance in Little Elm with stops in Mesquite and Princeton Oct. 1.
The Terrell Tiger Band is scheduled to take the field against some of the top programs from across the area this weekend, kicking off their fall marching season in earnest with appearances at the Mesquite Marching Festival and Princeton Sounds of Fall event Oct. 1.
