TVCC Art Department accepting high school submissions

Trinity Valley Community College Art Department is excited to announce the third call for the High School Art Show. The goal is to encourage students to pursue further studies beyond high school and familiarize them with a local college campus. The show will be in a digital format and two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships will be applied for four semesters of tuition and fees in a studio course. Each student may submit up to three images completed in the student’s senior year. Submissions can be emailed to Art Department Coordinator and Professor of Studio Art September Kirk at September.kirk@tvcc.edu by Monday, April 1. Winners will be announced at the opening of the TVCC Student Art Show on April 23.

Terrell Fire Department takes delivery of Freeway Blocking Equipment

City of Terrell Public Information Officer The City of Terrell received a 2021 North Central Texas Council of Government Incident Management – Freeway Blocking Equipment Grant. This grant was awarded for the purchase of a new Truck Mounted Attenuator Unit that will be utilized to protect first responders as they work incidents on roadways.

World War II women pilots featured at BFTS Museum

The role women pilots played during World War II is not known by the average American, but the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum is presenting a program Thursday, March 21 at 7 pm that will tell their story. Texas Woman’s University Professor of History, Katherine Sharp Landdeck, Ph.D, has spent two decades researching and explaining their contributions to the war effort.
