Kaufman County commemorates 175 years

County officials were in the spirit of celebration as Kaufman County was recognized for 175 years Oct. 10 at the commissioners’ court meeting. Commissioners and County Judge Jakie Allen wore period dress from 1848, the time of the county’s birth, and special visitors Texas Representative Keith Bell, Christopher Morris of Senator Bob Hall’s office and Representative Lance Gooden’s District Director Jennifer Alden attended to honor the occasion.

E! Terrell presents Sounds of Silence Tribute Oct. 19

The second E! Terrell Entertainment Series show of the 2023-2024 concert season features the iconic folk rock music scene of the 1970s. Highlighting the music of Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, John Denver, and other notable artists of the times, Johnny Phillips and Steven Delopoulos perform their brand-new show “The Sounds of Silence Tribute Tour” at the Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

British Flight School author to speak Oct. 26

As part of Terrell’s Sesquicentennial celebration, the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum will not only host a speaker who will recall the operations of the Royal Air Force flight school but will also mark the organization’s 20th anniversary at 119 Silent Wings Boulevard in Terrell. The free program, complete with a birthday cake, will be at 7 p.m. on October 26 at the museum.

TERRELL POLICE MAKE GUN, DRUG SEIZURE

The Terrell SWAT team and Narcotics Investigators made quite the seizure while serving a warrant Wednesday, Oct. 4. The two agencies executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Elizabeth Street in Terrell. The suspect was not at the location at the time of the warrant execution. Officers seized 2.2 lbs. of marijuana, 42 g of powder cocaine, cash from the alleged proceeds of illegal activity and four semi-automatic rifles. The subject remains at large according to a press release from the Terrell Police Department.
