County approves pyrotechnics display

diana@terrelltribune.com Kaufman County Commissioners heard a request from City of Kaufman Assistant City Manager Rachel Balthrop Mendoza Sept. 26 to conduct a pyrotechnic show from the top of the downtown Kaufman County courthouse during the Kaufman Harvest Festival Oct. 14.

TISD HOSTS COLLEGE FAIR

Terrell ISD hosted their College Fair at the ExCel Center for prospective students Sept. 14. Many college recruiters and students were in attendance and many Terrell ISD students received great information for their secondary education.

McAllister’s Deli coming to Terrell this Fall

The Saxton Group, a restaurant franchisee in the fast casual space, will open a McAlister’s Deli in Terrell this fall. Located at 534 American Way, the restaurant will showcase a digital centric design featuring kiosk ordering, window-side pickup for online and app orders, as well as delivery.

Terrell ISD inducts new Hall Of Honor members

Terrell ISD is proud to announce the 2023 Terrell ISD Hall of Honor inductees, Mayor Rick Carmona, Judge B. Michael Chitty, Benny Lampkin, Peggy Wieland and Dr. Bruce Wood. The Hall of Honor was initiated in 2021 with Bernard Derrick as the first member to be inducted. This year’s class brings the total Hall of Honor members to nine. The Hall of Honor recognizes Terrell High School or Burnett High School alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the arts, athletics or academic activities that have made a positive impact on the community.

Lending Libraries come to Terrell

Kaufman County Community United It started a few years ago before my time…the purpose of the Free Lending Libraries was to put books in the hands of all ages, from 0 to 99. I am a firm believer in reading to your child, sitting in a peaceful place by yourself reading a good novel or enjoying time with your grandchildren by reading to them. I have very fond memories of my grandmother reading to me and it was such a special time.

Terrell ISD proudly announces the 2023 Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, Juan Abundis, Eric Bishop (known professionally as Jamie Foxx), Willie Coulter, Antonio Harris, Carnell Horn, Jr., Mark Hudson, Darrius Johnson, Rick Jones, Brandon Kennedy, Charressa Kennedy, Shawn May, Arthur McCullar, Nicole Davis-Miles, Mat Pierson, Stephanie Pierson, Dawonya Tucker, Adrain Tucker and Gilbert Willie, Jr. These 18 individuals join a group of over 130 distinguished student-athletes who graduated from or coached at either Terrell High School or Burnett High School. These exceptional individuals were nominated for this honor based on their athletic achievements, character, and overall contribution to the Terrell Independent School District.
