Coalition formed to combat spam calls

The Office of the Attorney General has announced that Texas, along with the Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of law enforcement partners nationwide, is conducting Operation Stop Scam Calls to combat the nationwide problem of illegal telemarketing and robocalls by which companies and scammers target and harass U.S. consumers.

Gas price increase reported in Texas

Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.14/g July 17, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 5.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 85.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 0.1 cents in the last week and stands at $3.80 per gallon.

Texas cotton crop outlook uncertain

Texas cotton growers whose crops held on through recent weather could find strong prices during a summer of uncertainty, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. John Robinson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cotton economist, Bryan-College Station, said the 2023 cotton season will be the most uncertain he has ever analyzed.
