With the recent visit of Old Man Winter in our area, I began thinking about what it would be like to spend the winter up in the far north. I would greatly enjoy spending time, up around the Northwest Territories in northern Saskatchewan during the dead or winter, or at least I think I would. It would be an awesome experience to walk outside a remote cabin at night and have a bird’s eye view of the northern lights.

Thaw begins following artic blast

Mother Nature made her presence felt across the region during the past week, delivering a powerful arctic blast highlighted by a steady helping of sleet and icy conditions that caused business and school closures, accidents and countless power outages due to downed limbs and trees.
A brush truck used by the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department received moderate damage Jan. 30 after responding to multiple accident calls along Highway 34. The incident occurred when a driver traveling too fast lost control due to the icy conditions, striking one vehicle that ultimately made contact with the rear of the brush truck. SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans available to Texas small businesses

Small nonfarm businesses in 194 Texas counties and neighboring counties in New Mexico and Oklahoma are now eligible to apply for lowinterest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, announced Director Tanya N. Garfield of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West. These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by excessive heat in the following primary counties that occurred May 1 - Sept. 30, 2022.
