TVCC to host blood drive event

The Kaufman County Farm Bureau delivered a welcome surprise to the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department Jan. 17, donating $2,000 for their continued service to area residents. In a post on the KC Farm Bureau’s website officials stated, “We were honored to deliver a check to the TVFD for responding to calls from our Texas Farm Bureau members in 2022. Thank you for taking care of our members!”

Gas prices increase as diesel prices dip

Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 7.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.90/g Jan. 16, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 31.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 0.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 7.2 cents in the last week and stands at $4.56 per gallon.

Filing now open for city council, school board

Qualified residents interested in serving on either the Terrell City Council or Terrell ISD Board of Trustees are now on the clock with candidate filing for each opening bright and early Jan. 18, and running until Feb. 17.

Bill filed to target catalytic converter thefts

Senator Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) filed Senate Bill 465 in response to the 5,300 percent jump in catalytic converter theft insurance claims in Texas since 2019. The spike is fueled by organized criminal rings who target catalytic converters for the precious metals inside them (palladium and rhodium) that are worth more per ounce than gold.
