Hulsey Library each Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. during the months of February, March and into April.

The season for filing 2022 taxes began Jan. 24, and while some Texas residents are planning on submitting their own returns, others are reaching out to reputable tax preparers for assistance. With roughly three months remaining until the filing deadline of Apr. 18 for general tax returns, the Better Business Bureau reminds residents to be wary of con artists and unethical businesses who claim to specialize in tax preparation.

The Don’t Mess with Texas Scholarship Contest is now accepting applications for the 2023 school year. Any Texas high school senior currently attending public, private or home school, and planning to attend an accredited Texas college or university in the fall 2023 semester is eligible to apply.

Annual Clay Shoot registration now open

The Terrell Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Clay Shoot March 10 from 11:30 a.m. – 5p.m. at Texas Gun Ranch in Terrell. The Terrell Chamber is a non-profit organization and all funds raised go back into supporting local businesses and the community through scholarships and events.

Salex tax revenue collections increase 1.42 percent

The Texas State Comptroller’s Office delivered its first sales tax revenue collection report of the year Jan. 11, indicating that 10 out of 13 local cities had shown gains when comparing January 2023 totals against those posted during the same calendar month the previous year.
