The BFTS Museum was honored to have a visit from Richard Hyde, Her Britannic Majesty’s Consul-General in Houston on April 26. He was accompanied by Tim Cork, Deputy Consul General.

The Kaufman County Commissioners Court covered familiar ground this week, revisiting a potential allowance for fireworks sales in the lead up to Memorial Day. Citing the potential fire risk and solemnness of the occasion, court members had largely expressed a preference to not grant sales permits in Kaufman County for Memorial Day-related sales.

Terrell ISD held its annual Evening of Excellence event at The French Soiree May 11, recognizing retirees, campus teachers of the year and district teachers of the year. The field of contenders for several statewide offices, including Attorney General and Comptroller of Public Accounts, will get whittled down this week with this year’s Republican and Democratic Primary Runoff Elections slated for May 24.

A Thousand Horses will be in concert on July 3 at British Flying and Training School Museum grounds located at Terrell Municipal Airport, 400 East British Flying School Blvd. Tickets can be purchased at terrellfreedomfest.com

The North Texas Antique Tractor and Engine Club’s Show, Pull and Swap meet will be held Saturday and Sunday June 11-12 at Ben Gill Park in Terrell. The show hours are Saturday, June 13 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ages eight and under get into the event for free. Admission for age nine and up is $5. The event will consist of small engine displays, tractor parade, tractor display, antique tractor pulls and a kiddie obstacle course. A dinner provided for exhibitors will be provided Saturday night. This year, make plans to enjoy Terrell FreedomFest which includes the traditional 4th of July Fireworks Display at the Terrell Municipal Airport. In 2021 a decision was made to relocate the firework show for safety concerns, considering the close proximity of the Timbers apartment complex, Furlough Middle School and the ExCEL Center.
