As part of the Terrell Jubilee, the Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB once again hosted an IBCA State Championship BBQ Cook-Off. Competitors could compete in Pit or Local Divisions.

Runners compete at Fountain 5K Race

Body
A windy Saturday morning didn’t stop racers from coming out to Ben Gill Park for the Fountain 5K Run/Walk. The event, which was part of the 41st annual Terrell Jubilee, benefits the Volunteer Services Council (VSC) of Terrell State Hospital and it celebrates the charm and heritage of Terrell, as participants pass historic homes built at the turn of the century on the scenic neighborhood route.

STAR Transit elects former executive director to Board

Omega Hawkins, who retired as STAR Transit’s Executive Director in 2019, is the organization’s new Primary Place 1 board member. The board elected Hawkins on April 19. Previously, she was serving as Alternate Member Place 1.

Primary runoff election voting to begin May 16

The countdown to another election cycle is officially on with early voting for this year’s Republican and Democratic Primary Runoff Elections slated to begin May 16 throughout Kaufman County Candidates listed on the Republican Primary Runoff ballot for Kaufman County will include: -Attorney General: Ken Paxton, George P. Bush -Comptroller of Public Accounts: Mark V.

Patterson named Administrator of the Year

The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance has successfully partnered with Dallas ISD for 15 years; much of that success can be attributed to Terrell ISD graduate Leonidas Patterson, currently the Director of Student Activities for the district.

Annual Taco Festival draws large crowd

The City of Terrell and the Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB sponsored the 2nd Annual Terrell Taco Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 7, 2022. The event was held on Nash and Adelaide Streets near Terrell City Hall and was a huge success.

Voters reject TISD bond proposals

Terrell ISD officials will head back to the drawing board this week, looking to regroup after voters turned down a $95 million bond proposal highlighted by the construction of a new elementary school campus.
