The $16 million 5-year statewide economic mobility grant administered by the Texas Success Center is designed to increase the number of credentialed Texans prepared for high-demand careers that offer a living wage.

Well last year this pesky lawn weed was my number one horticulture related call for two months. This weed that has infected a vast majority of yards in our area. Lawn burweed, carpet burweed or spur weed (Soliva spp.), a cool season annual introduced from South America, has become a nuisance on golf courses, athletic fields, parks and lawns throughout much of Texas and the Southwest.

Senate panel advances bail reform, fentanyl bills

The Senate Criminal Justice Committee unanimously approved legislation on Tuesday that would answer two of the seven emergency items laid out by Governor Greg Abbott last month: bail reform and dealing with the fentanyl epidemic. The latter issue is in response to a national epidemic of deadly overdoses.

TEXAS PRESS ASSOCIATION Texas once again has topped the list for new and expanded corporate facilities added in a year, according to Site Selection Magazine. With 1,028 new projects in 2022, the state had more than the next two states combined – Illinois and Ohio.

Powerlifting program makes massive gains

Four years ago if you walked into the Terrell High School weightlifting room, you would find one female powerlifter among the male powerlifters. Thanks to the leadership of Coach Albert Martinez, 21 female athletes have now added “powerlifter” to their athletic resume.
The Terrell powerlifting program has seen a sharp increase in female participants over the past four years, going from one to more than 20 this season. Annexation public hearings set for March 20

The City of Terrell and Kaufman County have generated plenty of headlines in recent years, drawing attention for what has become a rapid commercial and residential boom. In order to address the ongoing influx city leaders have charted a course that is expected include the annexation of land in an effort to expand the city limits and address the need for roads, police and public services to keep up with this record growth.
