TISD announces plans for community event

The largest outdoor pre-game party ever is coming to Terrell Tiger fans this November. New this year, “Tiger Alley” is a free event designed to bring the entire community together prior to the last home football game. The outdoor party will kick off at 5 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Terrell ISD ExCEL Center located at 1251 Colquitt Rd, and will feature carnival style food from Hickory Roots, numerous outdoor games and live DJ music.

The Terrell Tigers gave their playoff hopes a much needed spark on Friday night against the visiting Denison Yellowjackets, bouncing back from an 0-2 start in district play with a decisive 55-30 win. Terrell set the pace during the game’s opening 12 minutes, taking an early lead courtesy of run.

Tigers back in action following bye week

The Terrell Tigers had the opportunity to rest and recover last week, catching their breath after back-to-back grueling contests against current District 7-5A favorites Lucas Lovejoy and Melissa. Current District 7-5A standings show Lovejoy and Melissa tied for first at 2-0, followed by Crandall, Denison, Greenville and Poteet at 1-1 each, and Terrell and Princeton at 0-2 each.

Cross country competes at Greenville Invitational

editor@terrelltribune.com The Terrell cross country program made the short trek to Greenville Sports Park Sept. 29, continuing preparations for the upcoming district meet by racing at the Greenville ISD Invitational. The event was relatively small with just three schools, host Greenville, Terrell and Durant, among the competitors.

WILD HOGS = CASH

Having been raised on a small farm in northeast Texas, it’s hard for me to look at a hog, feral or domestic, as a pest but when it comes to feral hogs, I’ve had to change my thinking. Wild hogs do a great deal of damage to ranch and farmland and create problems for native wildlife, especially ground nesting birds such as turkey and quail. Their numbers have to be controlled, I get that. But, it’s still hard for me to see all that good eating pork going to waste.

Leopards race past Tigers in district opener

sports@vanzandtnews.com The Terrell Tigers got their first taste of district play on Friday night, hitting the road to take on a Lovejoy Leopards squad carrying a deceptive 1-2 record after highly competitive games against College Station, Argyle and North Crowley during the opening weeks of the season.
