Angie Cooper of Terrell Chamber of Commerce graduates from Institute for Organization Management

Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce that Angie Cooper, IOM, V.P. of Operations, of the Terrell Chamber of Commerce has graduated from the program and has received the recognition of IOM. Awarded to all graduates of the Institute program, the IOM Graduate Recognition signifies the individual’s completion of 96 credit hours of course instruction in non-profit management. In addition, participants can earn credit hours towards the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) or Certified Association Executive (CAE), certifications. Nearly 1,000 individuals attend Institute annually.

Area residents flocked to Terrell’s Municipal Airport last week, celebrating Independence Day at the newly revamped FreedomFest. Events kicked off July 3 with live musical performances by rising stars Kaelynn Nikole and A Thousand Horses. The schedule of events stayed full the following night with more music, a hot air balloon glow, food vendors, a flag retirement ceremony and a show stopping fireworks display. TISD seeking applicants for board position

On Thursday, June 23, Terrell ISD Board President Dena Risinger accepted the resignation of School Board member Channy Ory, who represented Single Member District 5. The resignation notice was effective June 24. The Board and TISD offered gratitude for Ory’s faithful service to TISD.

Fire danger prompts reminder

Despite the implementation of a burn ban in Kaufman and other surrounding counties, fire departments and first responders have been kept busy in recent weeks. In light of the dangerous conditions, Kaufman County officials issued a reminder this week about resources available for mobility-impaired residents.
