As Texans hit the waterways across the state to recognize July 4, Texas Game Wardens were out in force to ensure everyone stayed safe on the water. “Texas Game Wardens partnered with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country for Operation Dry Water to focus on impacts of alcohol on boaters during high-traffic weekends like July 4 th ,” said Cody Jones, Assistant Commander for Marine Enforcement with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 17.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.20/g July 11, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 45.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand $1.36/g higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 8.5 cents in the last week and stands at $5.65 per gallon.

July 16: United Church of God in Christ will be hosting its annual Vacation Bible School event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 901 South Hattie. The event is free and all children in attendance will receive a bag of school supplies (while supplies last).

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Terrell continued what has become a longstanding local tradition this week, serving up sliced watermelon at Terrell State Hospital July 12. Kiwanis Club members stated, “This is an annual event that has been taking place for more than 50 years. It was interrupted by the pandemic for a short time. The Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course is held each year during the first week of August and has grown into one of the largest beef cattle educational events in the world. The 2021 short course is scheduled for Aug. 1-3 in College Station and is coordinated by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Terrell Independent School District is excited to announce Dr. Nicole Mansell as Terrell’s Executive Director of Communications and Marketing. Mansell has worked in school communications and marketing for 20 years in districts large and small including Irving, Dallas, and Waxahachie ISD. Mansell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science degree from Texas Tech University and a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
