Terrell ISD Superintendent Dr. Georgeanne Warnock was selected as a 2021 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for innovative and effective use of technology to engage and inform the school community, and to expand two-way communication and outreach efforts. At the time the announcement was made back in December 2021, Dr. Warnock stated, “It is an absolute honor to be a re-cipient of this award and to be included alongside the other superintendents. Being new to the community and the superintendency at the start of the pandemic really provided challenges when it came to engaging our community in an authentic and meaningful way.

Terrell City Council member Tim Royse has announced his retirement from the District 5 seat he has held since 2016. His final Council meeting is slated for July 26.

Every person in every community nationwide can now dial “988” to reach trained crisis counselors who can help in a mental health, substance use or suicide crisis. 988 is the first step in reimagining our crisis response, but there’s more work to do to ensure everyone receives the help they need — and deserve — in a crisis.

The Riter C. Hulsey Public Library’s Terrific Tuesday series played host to Brett Roberts July 5. Roberts performed a magic bubble show for kids and talked to them about the science of how bubbles work. Additionally, attendees were taught techniques on making the best and coolest bubbles. The program was held a the First United Methodist Church in Terrell, and sponsored by Splash Kingdom. Donating blood is an easy, healthy way to help fellow Texans and support the well-being of the local community. People need blood at all hours of every day. They include older adults with age-related health issues, mothers experiencing difficulties during childbirth, auto accident and trauma patients, children with anemia, and many others who depend on an available community blood supply.

The First Presbyterian Church, located at 834 Griffith Avenue, will be hosting a relationship seminar July 23 from 1-2 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Gowan, LPC. Gowan is the cofounder of D2 Counseling in North Dallas and Plano.
