When asked what goes into raising a grand champion steer, Angelica Lopez was quick with an answer: “A lot of hard work.” The 16-year-old Terrell High junior has put in the time and effort to win two livestock shows back to back this year. She won at Tyler during the East Texas Fair in September, and last month she captured an even more prestigious title with her longhorn steer at the Texas State Fair, where the animal was named Overall Grand Champion.

The Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) recognized Terrell EDC and Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB, at their annual conference, Thursday, October 14, 2021 with three CEDA Awards. The Community Economic Development Award (CEDA) recognizes exceptional contributions of TEDC member cities toward the economic vitality of their communities and the state of Texas through creativity, leadership, and partnership in the achievement of business retention, business recruitment and community improvement.

This year’s Stanley Ballard Senior Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. We would like to encourage schools, churches and businesses to participate in this year’s parade. This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Vacation” and the grand marshals will be Mr. John Davidson and Don Ledbetter.
