Oct. 22-23: Alinea Family Hospice Care will host its annual parking lot garage sale at 303 E. College St., with all proceeds going directly to help families who are on hospice care. Friday’s sale will take place from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday’s sale will be from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Those interested in donating to the cause or with questions are asked to call Mike Stone at 972-563-1560.

Downtown trick-or-treat takes place Oct. 29

Hundreds of animals released by hoarder

On Oct. 8, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) assisted the Hubbard Police Department in Hill County with a negotiated release of over 220 surviving pets from a hoarder. According to the Humane Society, several members stayed late on Oct. 8 unloading the pets and placing them at the Humane Society’s shelter, where they were safe and properly cared for. Kaufman County has contracted with the HSNT to administer its pet adoption center, which is under construction. To make a contribution to the HSNT, go to its website and click on Ways to Give. Thanks to the work of students and a donation by the Terrell Garden Club, the Terrell Alternative Education Campus EAC campus became a little brighter recently with the addition of these colorful flowers. The students spent a few days cleaning out the flower boxes and planting the new plants. The students and staff say thanks to the Garden Club for the donation and community support. COURTESY PHOTO

Congratulations to the Terrell Speech and Debate students for their success at Melissa High School this past weekend. Varsity Policy Debaters: John Ory and Dalila Ramirez placed 3rd in the Varsity Division. Novice Policy Debaters: Jhovanny Alcantara and Ava Foren placed 3rd in the Novice Division. Novice Policy Debaters: Molly Knapp and Shelbie Stephens laced 5th in the Novice Division. The next tournament will be held at Lindale High School Nov. 6. TERRELL ISD/FACEBOOK

Beef cattle faring well going into fall, winter

TEXAS–Beef cattle prices and forage conditions have been much improved for Texas producers so far in 2021, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts. Texas beef cattle had plenty of grazing and producers put away above-average stocks of hay due to improved moisture levels around the state this summer.
