Patricia Daniels is the Poetry Community Christian School Elementary Teacher of the Week. She has a long history in education and youth intervention. She began her teaching career at Patrick Henry High School after earning her B.S. at MSU. She later taught with Uplift Preparatory and the Dallas Independent School District. Before coming to PCCS, she served as an Academic Coordinator. As a certifi ed teacher, her greatest asset is encouraging learners of any age. She knows that educational success begins when students believe in themselves and believe they can learn, regardless of the subject. She has a particular gift with young learners. A look in her classroom will see students engaged and smiling!

Children meet to enjoy the relaxing and mind-stimulating game of chess on the second Monday of each month for the Terrell Kids Chess Club at Riter C. Hulsey Public Library.

Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) Health Science Center will host Be My TVCC and Teddy Bear Repair Shop on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 11 a.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Trinity Valley Community College – Athens campus was filled with excitement for the “Red Bird Reception” hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Greater Athens. The event welcomed new TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison, First Lady Stephanie, and their daughter Brennan to the community.

Trinity Valley Community College held Summer Graduation Commencement at the Cardinal Gymnasium on the TVCC-Athens Campus on Friday, Aug. 11, conferring associate degrees or Certificates of Completion to 153 graduates.

Schools are starting up again and law enforcement agencies and school districts are posting on social media, asking the public to be aware and drive cautiously. School buses are considered by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration to be the safest mode of transportation for students traveling to and from school.

Stephen F. Austin State University recognized the outstanding academic achievements of a select number of students by naming 832 to the President’s Honor Roll for spring 2023.
