Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) has long been a pillar of education in East Texas, dedicated to providing its students with exceptional learning opportunities. In a continued effort to enhance its healthcare programs, TVCC has solidified a crucial partnership with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Sunnyvale through an affiliation agreement effective Jan. 22.

The Global Leadership Academy robotics team were recently selected to advance to the North Texas Regional Qualifier competition. .

Terrell ISD Communications On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the Terrell ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to call a bond election to provide more academic options for students as the district continues to grow. If approved, this bond would directly impact every student and campus in Terrell ISD while also strengthening safety and security across the district.

Each year, the Texas Association of Community Colleges hosts Community College Day at the Capitol, with this year’s event taking place on Feb. 3. Members of Trinity Valley Community College’s Student Government Association from the Athens, Palestine and Terrell campuses, along with SGA advisors and TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison had the opportunity to attend and hear from higher education leaders, interact with state leadership and learn how to advocate for education.

Terrell ISD Communications Terrell High School senior Drum Major Kevin Espinoza was never supposed to be in a band. As an incoming sixth grader, Kevin discovered an accidental error on his class schedule. “I noticed that band was on my schedule as an elective on the first day of school,” he shared. “I honestly did not want to be in band, but I was too shy to speak up, so I basically stuck it out.”

Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) is excited to offer students interested in the legal system the opportunity to pursue a career as a court reporter through its new for-credit online court reporting program.

Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) graduate Sam Pollock is using his musical talents to educate and entertain the community. Pollock graduated from TVCC in 2020 with an Associate of Arts in Music.

TISD Life Skills celebrates Field Day

It was a fun-filled day for our Terrell ISD Life Skills and medically fragile students May 15. It was the first-ever ExCEL+ Field Day, funded by the Terrell ISD Excellence Foundation. Volunteers from the American National Bank of Texas in Terrell came to support. Additional photo on 8A.

awalker@cityofterrell.org City of Terrell staff member Erin Herndon graduated May 11 with a Master of Sacred Music degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. The ceremony was held at Highland Park United Methodist Church. She is the first student to complete an MSM degree from SMU with a concentration on Keyboards.
