Trustees call for May school bond election

Terrell ISD Communications On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the Terrell ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to call a bond election to provide more academic options for students as the district continues to grow. If approved, this bond would directly impact every student and campus in Terrell ISD while also strengthening safety and security across the district.

Cardinals visit Capitol on Community College Day

Each year, the Texas Association of Community Colleges hosts Community College Day at the Capitol, with this year’s event taking place on Feb. 3. Members of Trinity Valley Community College’s Student Government Association from the Athens, Palestine and Terrell campuses, along with SGA advisors and TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison had the opportunity to attend and hear from higher education leaders, interact with state leadership and learn how to advocate for education.

Terrell HS drum major’s surprising band discovery

Terrell ISD Communications Terrell High School senior Drum Major Kevin Espinoza was never supposed to be in a band. As an incoming sixth grader, Kevin discovered an accidental error on his class schedule. “I noticed that band was on my schedule as an elective on the first day of school,” he shared. “I honestly did not want to be in band, but I was too shy to speak up, so I basically stuck it out.”

City employee graduates with Master of Sacred Music Degree from SMU

awalker@cityofterrell.org City of Terrell staff member Erin Herndon graduated May 11 with a Master of Sacred Music degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. The ceremony was held at Highland Park United Methodist Church. She is the first student to complete an MSM degree from SMU with a concentration on Keyboards.
